Requirements for the Processing Environment of Carbon Fiber Products
The requirements for the processing environment of carbon fiber products involve multiple aspects to ensure product quality, production efficiency and personnel safety. The following is a summary from the perspectives of temperature, humidity, ventilation, safety protection and equipment management.
1.Temperature Control
The temperature of the processing environment directly affects material performance. Construction at normal temperature (20–25℃) is optimal, as the adhesive exhibits good fluidity and moderate curing time. When the temperature is high (above 30℃), it is necessary to accelerate the operation speed to avoid premature curing of the adhesive, and take sunshading and cooling measures. When the temperature is low (below 5℃), the adhesive and base material should be preheated to prevent increased viscosity or incomplete curing.
2.Humidity Management
The ambient humidity should be maintained below 60%. In high humidity conditions (60%–80%), moisture-resistant adhesives should be used and the surface of the base material should be dried. In high-humidity environments (above 80%), rain shelters should be built or dehumidification equipment should be used; otherwise, it is prone to cause hollowing of the adhesive layer or bonding failure.
3.Ventilation and Protection
The production workshop must maintain good ventilation to dilute and remove potentially generated volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or dust. Employees should be equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as dust masks and safety goggles. It is also essential to ensure the normal operation of waste gas treatment systems (e.g., dust collectors and asphalt fume collection devices) to reduce the emission of harmful substances.
Base Material and On-site Preparation
Before processing, ensure that the surface of the base material is clean, dry and flat, free of oil stains, dust or cracks. If necessary, use leveling adhesive to repair defects, and control the moisture content of the base material below 8% to ensure bonding strength.
Equipment and Process Specifications
During the production process, it is necessary to regularly maintain equipment (such as closed conveying devices and dust removal systems) to avoid dust leakage. For the handling of raw materials such as asphalt, closed measures should be adopted and monitoring devices should be installed to prevent pollution diffusion.
In general, the processing environment requires comprehensive control of temperature, humidity and ventilation conditions, as well as strengthened safety protection measures, to achieve efficient and safe production.
